RTD changing Local trend retroactively

Hi guys, I've been hitting this problem in the last few days... at first I thought i misread the chart and made human error, but I just got confirmation that there is something strange going on with the RTD.
I was looking into CADCHF (Local Downtrend) in 15m timeframe. The RTD was stable, but then something fast happened with a steady rise of the CAD price. The result was a change from Local Downtrend to Uptrend, which is fine... the problem is that according to the chart, the change happened 6 hours before it actually happened. Moreover, if I use the Replay Mode, the chart actually displays the change in the trend happening 6 hours ago and not in real time. Is this a bug or is it intended?
Thanks!

RTD as it stands is pegged to the 1 Day timeframe - the local & global RTD can be change throughout the day until the daily closing giving you this phenomenon

Tom Kliese: So is an update coming where we can peg the RTD to the 4 hour, 1 hour, or 15 min timeframe?

Hey Federico, i have also seen what you have explained. However it may help to understand how the RTD works (or how i think it works). It is a lagging indicator so is dictated by price movement. It cant anticipate moves reliably ahead of time and is simply an indication of which direction the momentum is heading at that point in time. It changes during the day depending on price so it can be up one moment and down the next (local). The daily open and daily close are the data points it records and then just draws a straight line between them. I actually think it draws a straight line to the data point one day prior which is why if you look back you will see local converging ahead of time and it seems like it has predicted every swing (it hasnt, it just connected to the current daily close to the previous daily opem). IMO fixing the data point on the daily close and not linking it to the previous day would be better for an indicator. But just note that it is lagging (and also does not work with replay mode). I find it best not to get too caught up with how it behaved in the past and just use it as a confirmation that you are trading with the trend (rather than relying on it as an indicator to take trades from). Hope that helps somewhat if no one else replies
